Biography
Stephen Bryan is the Chief Content Officer at SoundCloud. In this role, which he assumed in September 2014, Bryan leads SoundCloud’s business development, content relations and creator products teams globally. He and his team are responsible for SoundCloud’s long-term business growth strategy and strategic partnerships, industry and creator relations, content and distribution operations, as well as its range of creator and label product solutions.
Among his contributions to SoundCloud’s growth as a company, Bryan is responsible for successfully closing SoundCloud’s landmark label and publishing deals with key partners including Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group, which enabled the launch of its subscription service, SoundCloud Go.
Prior to joining SoundCloud, Bryan spent 17 years at Warner Music Group, leading digital strategy, forging new business models and building strategic relationships with emerging and established players. His career includes involvement in deals such as YouTube’s first agreement with a music major, licenses for the first subscription services including Spotify and Rhapsody, innovative cloud deals with iTunes, Amazon and Google, and ground-breaking distribution partnerships with ISPs.
Before joining Warner Music Group, Bryan held roles at The New York Times and Reader’s Digest.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
